We discover new fish species, encourage community monitoring and maintain and develop this site. We began studying seadragons, seahorse, and pipefish and this site emphasises fish in this family. However, we are expanding to other groups as our resources and expertise increase.
Southern Australasia is a distinct, relatively unexplored marine bio-geographical region with a very high biodiversity, 75% of the biota is endemic, with the longest cool temperate coastline in the world. The region serves as the ecotone between the southern Pacific Ocean and the south-eastern Indian Ocean.
