SMOOTH PIPEFISH

Lissocampus caudalis, Smooth Pipefish, Waite and Hale 1921.

 

Their are two species of Lissocampus currently known in southern Australia, the Smooth Pipefish Lissocampus caudalis, and the Javelin Pipefish L. runa.

Smooth Pipefish Lissocampus caudalis: From southern NSW to southern WA. Considered locally common inhabiting mixed rubble and algae covered reefs in bays. There are few specimens from South Australia. However targeted searches of suitable habitat are needed to find this species.

As little is known any images or information regarding the Lissocampus genera would be welcome.Lissocampus caudalis
